EDUCATION IN ITALY

University Education in Italy is highly specialized and severely competitive
Italy has:
  • 42 State Universities
  • 6 Private Universities
  • 3 Technical Universities and 
  • 12 Specialized University Institutes
Each University provides 4 main courses'
  • Diploma Universitario (university diploma),
  • Diploma di Laurea (Bachelor of Arts/Science),
  • Dottorato di Ricerca (research doctorate), and 
  • Diploma di Specializzazione(diploma of specialization)
The studies at specialized schools take 2 to 5 years, depending on the field of specialization. A duration of research activity is included. 
The Italian school system is divided into three parts:

  • Primary education (scuole elementare)
  • Lower secondary (scuola media)
  • One of the schools (scuola superiore)
Public schools in Italy is free until the end of primary education. Schools in Italy is compulsory until age 16.
Ministry of education, universities and research is responsible for the administration of schools in Italy.
Italy education at primary level
Italy education is compulsory at the primary level, which begins at the age of six.

  • Scientific High School (Liceo Scientifico)
Five years, with an emphasis on physics, chemistry and natural sciences. The student continues to study Latin and one in a modern language

  • School teacher (Istituto buses)
